QUOT: (kwot) Noun and collective noun.

A commonplace occurrence – any feature or characteristic of ordinary life which is ever present or predictable in given circumstances – a generalisation to this effect. From ‘QUOTIDIAN’ meaning ‘everyday’ or ‘ordinary’

Always finding something else to go in the wheelie-bin on bin-day just after putting it out in the road for collection.

Another of several ‘just after’ quots which have been flooding in : finding the dropped sock on the stairs just after turning on the washing machine : finding a use for the cardboard box just after throwing it away : finding your lost screwdriver just after buying the new one. This is a common bin-day quot as the time lapse between putting the bin out and the dustcart’s actual arrival is plenty long enough for you to create loads more rubbish. Seems churlish though to disturb the bin after all the primping you had to give it to ensure that the lid was tight down and nothing was protruding lest they refuse to take it , which is why some people prefer to wait until the dustcart is just leaving and then chase it down the street waving a banana skin or warm dripping teabags. What brings this on is that what doesn’t go today will be on the premises for another two weeks and it is indeed very difficult to live with yourself in the presence of this constant reminder that you were too lazy to walk out to the roadside?
